Caribbean Bottlers Trinidad and Tobago Limited (CBTTL) proudly been refreshing T&T since 1997 —however, our brands and legacy date back decades. Cannings Ltd. began operations in Trinidad and Tobago in 1914, and as a leading manufacturer of beverages, soon obtained the Coca-Cola franchise in 1939 to produce and distribute Coca-Cola products.
OUR HISTORY
The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) bought the Cannings operation in 1997 and renamed it Caribbean Bottlers Trinidad and Tobago Limited (CBTTL). Following years of success, TCCC sold its shares to the CC1 Group of Puerto Rico in 2003.

Our Vision
To be the leading “Total Beverage Company” that satisfies our customer’s needs, leveraging a global brand portfolio, achieving pervasive availability, utilizing superior execution, and becoming the regional export hub, while creating value for all stakeholders and communities we serve.
Our Commitments
We are committed to five key pillars: Workplace Safety; Water Stewardship; World Without Waste; Energy and Climate; and Community. We focus on critical areas where we believe we can make the biggest difference and set specific targets on an annual basis.
Workplace Safety
Our company maintains high workplace safety and health standards to foster a positive and safe culture for all employees, visitors, and contractors. CBTT embarked on strategies to achieve “Zero is Possible” by striving for continuous improvement, becoming a leader in the region, and further developing a high-performance culture. This program places a bullseye on accident/incident reduction with an initiative on Life Saving Rules & Behavioral Based Safety.
CBTTL’s leadership is committed to the following:
- A positive safety culture that includes safety, communication, plans for engagement, reward and recognition programs.
- Defining metrics that assess safety improvement and using safety KPIs to drive continuous improvement and incident mitigation.
- Increasing operations capabilities through enhanced competencies to manage critical processes for contractor management.
Water Stewardship
We set the standard for water efficiency and established sustainable operations by treating our wastewater to prevent pollution and investing in technologies and efficiencies that promote water reuse.
With water as the main ingredient in our products, we understand the importance of protecting our water sources and the quality of the water they hold. We are focused on good water stewardship, starting within our operations, and extending to our neighbours and communities.
Key strategies include:
- Reducing and replenishing the water used to produce our beverages.
- Improving community access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene.
- Partnering with government, NGOs, and communities to share resources and take collection action for water conservation.
World Without Waste
We have a responsibility to help solve the global plastic waste crisis by aiming to reach our sustainability goals and reduce our carbon footprint. We strive to achieve zero waste in our operations by 2030 by promoting educational awareness, adapting our packaging, and supporting more responsible environmental practices.
Goals
- We are making 100% of our packaging recyclable by 2025 and using at least 50% recycled material by 2030. For example, beginning in 2021, we incorporated RPET preforms into our bottled water operation, which includes 25% recycled resin, in addition to our existing plant bottle manufacturing process.
- We commit to collecting and recycling a bottle or can for each one we sell by 2030. We are on our way to achieving this goal with the ‘Every Bottle Back’ initiative, a collaboration between our company and other partners. This initiative distributes ECO bins and plastic beverage bottle bins to collect plastic bottles, which also increases awareness about recycling and the reuse of materials. A cash incentive is paid for each plastic beverage bottle, with a minimum of 100 bottles per deposit.
- We are partnering to unite people to support a healthy, pollution-free environment. We collaborate with stakeholders, communities, government, and NGOs to educate people on why and how to recycle through the ‘Every Bottle Back’ initiative, consumer campaigns, and on-package messaging.
Energy and Climate
We aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our drinks by delivering carbon reductions throughout our entire value chain and minimizing the energy used in our manufacturing operations.
We aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 by continuously evolving our climate change solutions and goals. This initiative includes using a science-based target to reduce absolute emissions, investments in renewable energies, and considering all other emissions in the value chain, from how we produce products to how we design refrigeration units for our customers.
Community
We are making a positive difference in our communities by working with local partners and supporting the active involvement of our employees. To continue to partner with government agencies, NGOs, and communities on protecting and conserving the natural environment.
Current Partnerships
- The Water Resources Agency, WASA Adopt-A-River Programme- in the Caura River and Community and the ‘100 Bins Against Plastic Pollution’ Project implemented across several communities.
